De Hoop is a private tertiary care clinic in the rustic town of Greyton just 2 hours drive from Cape Town. It offers a non-confrontational program built around the principles of the motivational enhancement method of treatment. They offer long term residencies for their clients and specialize in offering their service to clients with co-occurring mental disorders.

Introduction

The De Hoop Tertiary Care Centre, in the tranquil village of
Greyton, has been set up to provide facilities, services and
extended care to recovering alcoholics and addicts who have
completed a primary treatment process for their addiction, but
are not yet adequately equipped to reintegrate fully into
society.

Services

The De Hoop Tertiary Care Centre's programme encompasses the traditional
12-step "Minnesota Model" in combination with the European model
of "Motivational Enhancement" for extended care.

The combination is unique in South Africa and geared
specifically to patients with a low stress threshold. Length of
treatment takes precedence over intensity of treatment. The
programme is designed around 12-week cycles as opposed to the
4-week cycles currently provided n other treatment centres in
South Africa. The programme is designed to encompass a 7-day
week incorporating work, home and play activities.

• All
  activities are performed in a team context, supervised at
  all times by a support counselor.
• Individual
  progress is reviewed weekly and individual adjustments made
  accordingly.

As at 28 May 2008, they charge R 10,000 per month.
