A person that is addicted to a substance. 

Addiction is clinically referred to as dependence and is characterised by mental obsession and physical compulsion to continue using drugs despite the recurrent negative consequences cased by the drug use.

Addiction is defined by tolerance, withdrawal and loss of control. Having to use greater amounts that achieve less effect and suffering withdrawals as well as not having control over how much is used, when and how long it’s used for and what the outcome will be is what being addicted is all about.
